What is an Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm?

Also known as AAA or “triple A”, the condition is where a weakness has developed in the aorta, the main blood vessel of the body. The aorta runs from the heart through the chest and abdomen and splits down both legs.

Sometimes, as we get older, the wall of the aorta in the abdomen can become weak and expand. The expansion, like a bulge, is called an Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm.

It is most common in men aged 65 years and over.
